The sky-field was created for a walk by the coast, near Seaham. Although the local ecology has highlights, in particular in terms of butterflies, the landscape is rather featureless.
There is a famous beach which was formerly covered in spoil from the local coal-mine and which, thanks to the strange atmosphere of the place, has been used in films as varied as Get Carter and Alien. The cliff-top lacks a sublime skyline; there the elements seem dominate.
