three wall texts, Alec Finlay, 2010
These three wall texts were presented as part of the exhibition, 'all art is, is rhythm', as part of the 2010 AV Festival in Newcastle/Gateshead.
The first pair of texts are a call and response with Kurt Schwitters, whose comment that all art depends on rhythm owes much to Ezra Pound:
'Rhythm is perhaps the most primal of all things known to us… Music is, by further analysis, pure rhythm; rhythm and nothing else…’
The colours for the texts were taken from the specifications notated in the sky-wheel.
