This image of the Solway Firth was taken from Battle Hill. In the foreground you can see the wrecked remains of an old stake net, named 'Clatty', from the Scots meaning muddy.
In the faraway are the wind-towers of Robins Rigg wind farm, installed in the Solway Firth.
The text, by Alec Finlay, is adapted from Myfanwy Evans’ characterization of the art of the 1930s.
The image is a still from John Wallace’s ongoing film study of the Solway, Skyriversand.
